Acadia (NYSE:AKR), headquartered in Rye, New York, is a fully-integrated, self-managed and self-administered real estate investment trust. Through our REIT and Opportunistic Fund investment platforms, we are focused primarily on the acquisition, ownership, redevelopment and management of retail properties, including neighborhood and community shopping centers, urban high-barrier-to-entry street retail, and mixed-use properties with retail components.

Acadia is currently seeking a qualified undergraduate intern to join its Tax team onsite in Rye, New York for a winter/spring 2024 session for 20 – 30 hours per week, depending on the student’s availability. Eligible candidates may have the opportunity to participate in Acadia’s summer internship program.

Interns are assigned a mentor who will provide guidance throughout the duration of their internship. Interns will be encouraged to learn as much as possible about Acadia and how Acadia’s various departments collaborate throughout the acquisitions process. The intern should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in the deal analysis of retail-focused commercial real estate.

INTERNS WILL BE EXPOSED TO & PROVIDE SUPPORT IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

• Assist with tax provision and quarterly REIT testing.
• Research multistate state and local taxes
• Completing and filing sales tax returns
• Assisting with various schedules and compiling supporting documents for complex federal and state tax returns
• Assist with tax projections/forecasting.

Requirements:

• Eligible candidates are those who have at minimum completed their undergraduate junior year and enrolled in a program focused on taxation, such as a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a specialization or focus in taxation, or currently pursuing a master’s degree in Taxation.
• Have a strong desire to work in Taxation
• Must be able to work onsite in Rye, NY
• Must have a GPA of 3.0 or above
• Must have unrestricted work authorization in the US without a visa or sponsorship

• Ability to prioritize challenging work schedule/multi-task
• Strong communications skills (verbal, written and listening)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

The base compensation range for this role reflects the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each individual. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation for this position is $20.00 an hour..
