The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is currently looking for civilian full-time Simulator Pilot Instructor, GS-2181-12 serving the 47th Student Squadron, Laughlin AFB but the incumbent will work from Randolph AFB, San Antonio, TX. In this role, you will serve as a remote aircraft simulator instructor for students enrolled in the US Air Force Undergraduate Flying Training program assigned at Laughlin AFB, TX. You will instruct students with basic skills involving aircraft flight, instruments and night flying, formation flying, performing aerobatic and evasive maneuvers, cross-country flights to unfamiliar fields, and flying low-level missions. In addition, you will make necessary corrections and/or modifications with curriculum, and to update training policies and procedures from Randolph AFB, TX. PLEASE READ: work will be performed on Randolph AFB. Remote indicates employee will support mission at Laughlin AFB remotely from Randolph AFB, TX Part-time Opportunities - Job sharing/splitting may be available based on eligibilityMinimum Flight Hour Requirements (Flight Logs are mandatory):

• 1500 Total Flight Hours
• 250 Pilot-In-Command Hours
• 75 Night Flying Hours
• 75 flight hours of Instrument Time (at least 10 hours must be in actual instrument conditions)
• 500 Instructor Time Flight Hours (Fixed Wing)

Required documents:

• Flight Logs (military and civilian)
• FAA Certifications, following will be accepted: Fixed wing with Instrument rating, Certificated flight instructor, Military instructor pilot rating
• DD 214 or In Lieu of Letter (if applicable)
• SF 50 (if applicable)
• At least three references

Qualifications:

• Must be a US Civilian
• Position requires occasional travel to Laughlin AFB, TX for mandatory training requirements
• Experience as a rated military aviator (pilot) is critical to the successful completion of assigned duties. Previous experience as an instructor in a military aircraft is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of aircraft systems and operating procedures; aerodynamics, flying fundamentals, aircraft instrumentation, ground and flight emergency procedures, and instrument and visual flight rules, as well as knowledge of training aircraft, and of the operation, characteristics, and limitations of the corresponding aircraft simulator.
• Knowledge of the methods, principles, practices, and programs related to curriculum development, instructional techniques, and training resources.
• Skill in the use of a variety of computer applications and software, to include simulator systems sufficient to meet desired learning objectives.
• Skill in demonstrating flying procedures and maneuvers in an aircraft simulator.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing to include classroom instruction before large and small audiences.
• Ability to teach multiple academic courses while using computer based teaching aides.
