UPMC Community Medicine Incorporated is hiring a full-time Staff or Senior Physician Assistant to support UPMC Tri Rivers Musculoskeletal Centers. At Tri Rivers, our clinical team—comprised of 14 orthopedic surgeons, one primary care sports medicine specialist, six physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists (physiatrists), and two rheumatologists—covers the broad spectrum of musculoskeletal care. This position will primarily cover North Hills and Cranberry. The work will be split mostly between the OR and outpatient clinic. The schedule is Monday-Friday with weekend and holiday call coverage.

Staff Level: 

\n

The Staff Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner and a member of the care delivery team. The Staff APP is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The Staff APP has responsibility, authority and accountability for the provision of care through supervision by and collaboration with a physician. The Staff APP manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication and collaboration with all team members. The role of the Staff APP encompasses the beginnings of leadership, partnership, collaboration and supervision. The Staff APP establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The Staff APP begins to demonstrate a commitment to the community and to their healthcare profession.

Staff Pay Range: 43.66 49.52 59.43

Senior Level:

\n

The Senior Professional Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioners and a member of the care delivery team. The Senior Professional APP has responsibility and accountability for the provision of care through supervision by and collaboration with a physician. The role of the Senior Professional APP encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration and supervision. The Senior Professional APP establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The Senior Professional APP demonstrates a commitment to the community and to their healthcare profession.

Senior Pay Range: 48.06 53.70 67.73

\n

The successful candidate will be placed according to years and months of experience for employment purposes.

• Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the patients served as specified below 
\n
• Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span
\n
• Possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs

• Provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures 
\n

This position is dependent upon successful attainment and maintenance of hospital privileges, if applicable to the Business Unit practice.

Licensure, Education, Certifications, and Clearances 

\n

PA:  

\n

\n
• A graduate of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the physician assistant (ARC-PA) is required 
\n
• BS or MS candidate is preferred 
\n
• Experience as a physician assistant and/or experience in a clinical setting is preferred 
\n
• Current state PA license certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required 
\n
• Current CPR certification is required 
\n
• Act 34 Clearance required 
\n
• Act 33 Clearance will be required  
\n
• Act 73 Clearance will be required 
\n
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) OR Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
\n

\n

Senior Level:

\n

\n
• Minimum 3 years of experience or Completion of a post-graduate residency
\n
• The successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner or a graduate of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the physician assistant (ARC-PA) program is required 
\n
• BSN, MSN preferred for CRNP, BS or MS preferred for PA 
\n
• Completion of National Certification  
\n
• Must achieve a Solid/Strong/Good performance rating or higher on annual performance evaluation for consideration and to maintain status annually 
\n
• Must have department chair approval for promotion 
\n
• ACLS or ITLS or NALS or PALS or ACLS or other certifications listed must meet AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.  
\n

\n

OAPP: If practicing in an outpatient or other non-inpatient setting, APPs can use one of the certifications above or use a business unit approved certification which is relevant and value added to the practice setting. 

\n
