Job Description

Flagship Healthcare Properties is a rapidly growing commercial real estate investment firm located in Charlotte, NC that specializes in the acquisition, development, management and leasing of medical office properties, primarily in the Southeast. The Property Accountant is responsible for accurately reporting property-level financial statements, reporting tenant payments received and due and performing account analysis and reconciliation for Property Managers, Controller, and tenants upon request. The Property Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities: 

· Preparing tenant account analysis and reconciliations when tenants dispute charges to their accounts

· Recording monthly accruals such as janitorial, security, and utility expenses to match expenses to period incurred

· Preparing Fixed Asset Schedules

· Preparing monthly financial statements including balance sheet, income statement, trial balance, and cash flow statements

· Applying Cash Receipts to tenant ledgers

· Preparing Monthly Bank Reconciliations

· Assist with opening new bank accounts when needed

· Effectively communicating (both written and verbal) monthly and quarterly financial packages internally and externally (investors, lenders, CPA firms, 3 rd Party)

· Assisting with preparing Annual Budgets

· Preparing year-end packages and sending to external CPAs for tax return preparation and annual audit

· Responding to questions/inquiries from tax accountants and auditors

· Reviewing tax returns and entering adjusting journal entries as provided by the tax accountants and auditors

· Approving invoices in AP system, Yardi PayScan or similar system

· Reviewing the weekly payables and making sure sufficient funds are available

· Other duties as assigned

Desired Skills and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of real estate accounting
  • Yardi and/or MRI experience preferred
  • The ability to think and work both independently and in a team environment
  • The ability to multi-task and prioritize projects
  • Attention to detail and self-motivation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, problem solving abilities, organizational and analytical skills
  • Understanding of CAM reconciliations a plus
