Job Description
We’re looking for a reliable Prep Cook to join our team at JahMakin Jerk N Juice, a fast-casual Jamaican restaurant. Responsibilities include prepping fresh ingredients, marinating meats, portioning, and keeping a clean, organized kitchen. Must work well in a fast-paced environment and have a passion for authentic Jamaican flavors.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and portion fresh ingredients daily (vegetables, rice, beans, sauces, marinades).
Assist in the preparation of signature Jamaican dishes such as jerk chicken, curried goat, oxtail, ital veggie dishes, and plantains.
Follow standardized recipes and portion controls to maintain consistency.
Properly store, label, and rotate food items according to food safety guidelines.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of prep areas, cutting boards, utensils, and equipment.
Assist line cooks during peak service periods.
Support daily opening and closing kitchen duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager.
Uphold JahMakin Jerk N Juice’s commitment to authentic Jamaican flavors and fast-casual service standards.
Qualifications
Previous experience as a prep cook or kitchen staff preferred, restaurant experience a plus.
Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Willingness to learn Jamaican culinary traditions and techniques.
Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
