A Little More About What You Will be Doing

The LVN supports the physician and nursing staff in the delivery of health care by performing patient care assessments, and a variety of medically related tasks. The LVN is a licensed nurse who works in an ambulatory care setting to provide nursing services.

 

Job duties and responsibilities:

• Sets up exam room/procedure rooms appropriately based on patient visit needs
• Performs initial nursing intake and prepares patients for examination
• Prepares patients for examination by reviewing current medications and reviewing documents in medical record
• Prepares medical chart and records patient information needed to support the reason for visit such as vital signs and reason for visit
• Provides basic patient care and treatments such as taking vitals, performing diagnostic tests, phlebotomy, and specimen collection directed by the provider
• Observes patient, documents, and reports any changes in condition to the provider for instructions in taking necessary actions for care
• Serves as a patient advocate and uses appropriate resources to support patient care

Qualifications

Education:

• Completion of an accredited Vocational Nurse program

 

License/Certifications:

• Valid CA LVN license required
• BLS from the American Heart Association and/or the American Red Cross required
• IV/BW (intravenous/blood withdrawal) certification, must obtain within one year from hire date

 

Experience: 

• 1+ years of LVN experience in an outpatient setting preferred
