Position Summary

Thomas More University seeks a creative and motivated graphic designer to join our in-house marketing and communications team. This entry-level career position is ideal for a designer looking to build experience while making a meaningful impact. We’re looking for someone who is a self-starter with strong design skills, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for visual storytelling aligned with Catholic values and mission.

As a vital member of a small and collaborative team, you help elevate the University’s visual presence across print and digital platforms. Whether working on collateral materials, online graphics, or video elements, your work should inspire, inform, and engage a wide range of audiences, including prospective students, alumni, faculty, donors, and community partners.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design and produce a variety of print and digital materials, but not limited to flyers, postcards, signage, publications, digital graphics, direct mail campaigns, and branded templates
  • Using established Thomas More brand guidelines, design original materials and produce them for use on the appropriate platform.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand project goals, timelines, and creative needs
  • Prepare press-ready files and coordinate with internal and external print vendors for approval, production, and delivery
  • Manage projects using digital project management platforms provided
  • Prepare digital graphics for website, social media, and other digital media uses adhering to best practices in those fields, optimizing where necessary to maintain the integrity of the Thomas More online experience
  • Contribute to the refinement and adherence of the university’s visual identity
  • Experience with shooting and production of video is a plus.
  • Organize and maintain design assets and archives for ongoing use
  • Support marketing initiatives through capturing high-quality photography for use in marketing collateral and publications, when appropriate

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, or related field
  • Strong portfolio showcasing print and digital design work
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail, layout, typography, and visual hierarchy
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Understanding of branding principles and visual consistency
  • Familiarity with file preparation for both pre-press and digital assets. Familiarity with processes and best practices.
  • Support Five Seasons Family Sports Club marketing initiatives.
  • Occasionally support evening and weekend events that celebrate and promote the Thomas More community, such as Commencement or campus-wide ceremonies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
