Job Description

Our client, the waste management and recycling industry, is seeking an Equipment Operator to join their team. As an Equipment Operator, you will be part of the Maintenance Department supporting the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) team. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Equipment Operator

Location: Alexandria, MN

Pay Range: $21.99

Shift: Monday through Friday, 3 PM to 11 PM

What's the Job?

• Operate and monitor balers to compact and bale sorted recyclables such as cardboard, plastics, and metals according to specifications.
• Label, stage, and prepare bales for storage or shipment to ensure efficient material handling.
• Assist with cleaning and maintaining processing equipment, including conveyors, balers, screens, and magnets, to ensure optimal operation.
• Support maintenance technicians with mechanical repairs, tool handling, and part preparation to keep equipment running smoothly.
• Operate heavy equipment such as front-end loaders, excavators, and hook trucks to move, load, and organize materials within the facility.

What's Needed?

• High school diploma or GED preferred; prior experience in an industrial or recycling facility is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and experience operating forklifts or similar equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret site maps, load manifests, and safety procedures.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces.
• Comfortable working in loud, dusty, and hot/cold environments, following all safety policies and procedures.
