Your role will support our Enterprise Services (ES) Risk office, where you will lead crucial technology and cybersecurity risk management initiatives tied to our international growth. This position involves driving the international risk management function within ES, enhancing risk management processes across Capital One, managing projects and programs, and influencing our broader International Risk Strategy.
You will collaborate closely with associates and senior executives across all lines of defense and various risk management teams. This includes implementing effective risk management tools and frameworks to identify, assess, mitigate, and monitor risk sustainably. Your strategic direction and cross-team partnerships will help create industry-leading risk solutions that prioritize innovation while safeguarding our customers, shareholders, and associates.
Your contributions will be pivotal in driving organizational change through risk identification, analysis, and reporting, fostering a collaborative risk management environment. Key Responsibilities:
Lead the coordination and execution of Capital One's emerging international risk management functions, ensuring effective collaboration among Technology and Cyber teams, Lines of Business, and second line of defense teams.
Support the ES Risk leadership and country leadership teams in executing their strategic objectives and service model.
Develop international risk management frameworks and processes, providing oversight and collaboration with Lines of Business and other risk management associates.
Conduct program and process-level risk assessments, identifying risks and mitigation plans based on industry standards and best practices.
Act as a trusted advisor, leading critical technology and cyber risk discussions.
Stay informed of emerging cyber threats and changing regulatory environments, assessing their impacts on our international expansion.
Assist in project and program delivery, including process management, reporting, and engagement in senior leadership meetings.
Write and refine documents such as policies, standards, and procedures; develop templates and tools; and create impactful presentations.
Participate in management forums to continuously enhance risk and project management practices.
Lead cross-functional teams through initiatives and oversee third-party resources as necessary.
Engage with Internal Audit and Regulatory agencies as appropriate.
Participate in and execute special projects as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent military experience.
At least 7 years of experience in Cybersecurity, Technology, Risk Management, or Audit, or a combination thereof.
7 years of experience conducting risk assessments and audits.
4 years of project or process management experience.
4 years of people management experience.
2 years of experience leading an international program or country risk management initiative.
Preferred Qualifications:
10 years of experience in Cybersecurity, Technology, Risk Management, International Risk, or External Audit.
8 years of experience in information security or technology risk assessments within established frameworks.
8 years of experience performing data analysis for internal risk assessments and controls.
5 years of experience in data analysis for cybersecurity assessments in cloud environments.
5 years of project management experience overseeing cross-functional initiatives.
3 years of experience in the Financial Services industry with knowledge of regulatory practices.
Relevant certifications in cybersecurity, risk management, or project management (e.g., CISSP, CISM, PMP).
Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact confidently with diverse stakeholders.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate shifting priorities.
Consulting experience with a Big 4 firm is a plus.
This position is located at our McLean, VA office. At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.
Salary Range: McLean, VA: $226,000 - $257,900; Richmond, VA: $205,400 - $234,400; New York, NY: $246,500 - $281,300. Actual salary will be based on candidate's location and experience.
