Overview

The CMMC Compliance Specialist supports the organization in meeting Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) requirements. This role ensures all cybersecurity practices, documentation, and controls align with DoD standards. The specialist works closely with IT, leadership, and external auditors to maintain compliance and strengthen the company’s security posture.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and update CMMC compliance documentation, policies, and procedures
• Conduct internal assessments to identify gaps in cybersecurity controls
• Support the implementation of security practices required for CMMC Level 1–3
• Coordinate with IT teams to ensure technical controls meet DoD requirements
• Prepare evidence, reports, and artifacts for audits and certification reviews
• Monitor compliance deadlines and ensure timely completion of tasks
• Train staff on cybersecurity best practices and compliance expectations
• Assist with risk assessments, incident response planning, and remediation efforts
• Work with vendors and consultants during external audits or readiness reviews

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field (preferred)
• Experience with NIST SP 800‐171, DFARS, or CMMC frameworks

 

Experience

• 1–3 years of experience in cybersecurity, compliance, or IT governance
• Hands‐on experience supporting audits or compliance programs
• Familiarity with security tools, vulnerability management, and policy development
